The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is the first Nikon Z mount lens designed specifically for pro videographers and offers huge advantages for the solo pro on the move. Agile and versatile, it makes easy work of interviews, moving subjects, documentaries and more, especially when time is tight and speed of workflow is important. The Nikon yellow ring at the base signifies that it is a video-specific lens.

Power zoom

Smooth and precise power zoom capabilities are enhanced by the inclusion of a zoom lever (the first in a NIKKOR Z lens). Huge levels of control over your framing and composition are available, and ease-in and ease-out zoom features let you achieve natural, organic transitions. And with power zoom included, there’s no need for the extra weight of an external motor on your kit. Power zoom also synchronises with digital, hi-res zoom for extra reach (2x to 270mm when shooting 4K with a Nikon Z8 or Z9, or 1.4x with a Nikon Z6III).

Versatile focal length for a range of scenarios

The 28-135mm focal length covers a great range of view, from wide angle to telephoto, establishing shots to close-up interviews, giving you a choice of framing without changing lenses, however fast the moment arrives.

Full control over functionality

The power zoom speed on the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ can be selected from 11 options when paired with a Nikon Z6III, Z8 or Z9. The zoom ring can be customised in terms of the desired angle and direction of rotation, while Fn buttons allow you to programme various camera functions right on to the lens. You can control the lens to zoom remotely, from a PC with NX Tether or with a tablet/smartphone using NX Field or SnapBridge. Remote operation also makes it easier for one person to control various remote cameras at once. Record and recall functions are also available, meaning you can set the zoom for the scene in advance without having to manually control it.

Compatible with a wide range of accessories

The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is designed to work with a large range of video-specific accessories, including matte boxes, 0.8M pitch gear follow focus systems for more precise manual focus, monitors and SmallRig cages.

Rectangular hood with filter adjustment window

The rectangular lens hood that comes with the NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ helps to control the light and prevents unwanted ghosting and flaring. There’s no need to take the hood off to adjust filters and the hood can be mounted either horizontally or vertically so the window is on top or on the side.

Optical design specifically for video

The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is the first NIKKOR Z lens designed specifically for video, with a different optical structure to stills/hybrid lenses. Image quality is, as you’d expect from a NIKKOR Z lens, extremely high straight from the camera. The high resolving power gives you the confidence to shoot in both 8K and 4K.

The NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ is a robust lens with superior dust and drip resistance, ready to be used when the story demands the best from your kit. Well balanced on a tripod, it also has minimal centre of gravity shift for peace of mind when shooting on gimbal. Knurling on the focus ring, control ring and zoom ring are all different textures for ease of use.
